Church Statement of Significance: A church whose commanding spire is an important component of the Hamilton landscape. The design was by the Ballarat architect H R Caselli in an Early English Gothic idiom, and the church was opened in 1878. A prominent early church designed by Webb & Taylor and built in 1856-9, with aisles, sanctuary and the bulk of the tower added over the period 1881-9 to the design of Reed Henderson & Smart. An Anglican church of 1872-3 which is unusual as one of the very few privately endowed examples in the metropolitan area, as well as being a particularly characteristic and successful example of the work of Charles Webb. It is of brick with cement dressings, with a handsome square tower, a polygonal chancel with three contemporary stained glass memorial windows, and a wheel window at the West end.
